Have you heard about the new signature service offered to patients at Hudson Hospital? At your next hospital visit you're in for a real treat. Not only is your room clean and tidy, an artfully crafted towel animal is carefully placed at your bedside.

Bonnie Schwieder, housekeeper at Hudson Hospital & Clinics brought the idea to her manager, Jerry Jennings about a year ago. Jerry thought what a great way to offer personalized hospitality to our patients – and these adorable towel pets are another example of Hudson's healing arts and healing environment philosophy. “Bonnie got us started with offering this special touch by folding the bathmat into a basket and placing a folded wash cloth inside. From that, she came up with other clever animal ideas including swans, dogs, elephants, dinosaurs, and even monkeys!” says Jerry. “It’s our signature service and patients love them!”

A recent patient commented, "What a great sight to see as you are rolled into your recovery room. It's funny how with pain you can still laugh and make the pain just a little more tolerable.  Such a simple thing can make a big difference."

Now you’ll find the entire housekeeping staff trained in artistic towel pet creations – and on request, they’ll even take requests from patients and create them while they watch. “It only takes seconds to make one, once you learn the steps,” says Bonnie. Each animal is carefully folded – no pins or ties, simply towels. Towel animals – another unique personalized service Hudson offers patients – providing an exceptional healing experience.
